Lack of a mud room? So what!

August 17, 2008
by avlor

After drooling over this mudbench and the hanging hooks, I strong-armed my dear hubby into helping my re-organize the hall/entry closet.  Now my “work of art” is certainly not as glorious, but the closet is now functional instead of a 4 letter word.  (And I got rid of another of my household nemeses – the inconvenient hanging clothes bars and shelves that are too deep to reach to the back!  Mu-ha-ha-ha!)  On top of that, I have a good pile of things for the YMCA Advancement next time they come to take donations.   Thus – I present my “entry” (pun intended) for the Organizing Junkie’s Roundup – the Entry Way.

Sorry no before pictures. I was in such a hurry to get going on the project.

    I can’t read the labels and I’m nosy, what’s in the buckets? :) I always struggle with ‘what’s essential to this room/area?’ :)

    One more question for you…what are the dimensions on this closet? Would like to compare to mine to see how realistic this would be for me. Thanks!

    @Susan
    The closet is 19 inches deep and 36 inches wide (on the inside). Is that what you needed?

    It’s cool to think that what I did might be helping others too! ;)

    wow that looks really good. I like how you made a hall closet a mudroom of its own

    What a smart idea! I wish I would have thought of this before redoing my coat closet. I really like the hooks for hanging up hats. Maybe I can add that to the back of the closet that I just reorganized. Thanks for sharing!

    That’s great! I am looking for a way to turn my downstairs entryway closet into the exact same mudroom (literally- I showed my husband the very picture you linked to!).

    wow this is amazing what you did with the space you had! love it!

    Love it! I don’t think I would have thought of just doing the hooks around the walls like that! Great idea! And give your hubby a pat on the back for a job well done too!

    Oh. My. That is a GREAT idea! And it looks cheap and easy to do…I may have to borrow this one…

    I love this closet! You did such a great job on it. My favorite is the special hook for the vacuum hose. Those things are a pain to store and you found the perfect solution. I’m going to borrow it. :)
