Wii Fit Day 28 and Further Adventures in calorie counting

BMI: 28.42

Weight: 166.4 (down 2 lbs from yesterday, and down 5.6 lbs from start on 5/21.)

Work out time: 26 min (ran like a mad woman during the free run last few days and today I hit 2.08 miles in the 10 minute run. Though afterwards I was really sucking air.)

Calorie intake in yesterday: 1979

Calories burned (approximate): 656

Calorie intake in today: 2196

Calories burned (approximate): 560

Doing more research into the calorie count thing. It does appear that a person can burn off too many calories when exercising. In this forum thread (haven’t found anything more scientific yet), they say you want to be no more than 500-800 calories short of what it takes to maintain – or you hit starvation mode (and your body hits your muscles not your fat for energy).

Another note from that forum thread is that we ought to give our bodies a chance to rest. (I haven’t done this. Only missed 1 day of work out since I started and keep pushing myself harder. So I’ll be going slower the rest of the day.)

I am eating enough to not be tired during the day and feeling good, but I will slow down today and perhaps Thursday (with a birthday in the family will need to focus on that). Have been sleeping like a log lately – long time since I’ve been able to sleep soundly. (Yay!)

I’m in the beginning of a Wii Fit experiment myself. Good luck with it!

I certainly agree with almost everything you said. Your explanation was by far the easiest to understand. Honestly I usually get so annoyed when folks discuss issues that they obviously know nothing about. You managed to hit the nail right on the head and explained out everything without complication. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
