Hanging Paper Organizer
The biggest organizational challenge in my dining area is my “information wall”. I had papers taped all over the place and ultimately that tape wouldn’t be good for my walls, not to mention it was UG-LY! So inspired by I’m an Organizing Junkie‘s post on Creating a Command Center… I give you the Hanging Paper Organizer – a simple 1 hour (at most) project.
What you’ll need:
- 2 longish strips of fabric (the same size)
- pins, thread and sewing machine
- clothes pins (or something cuter – I had clothes pins on hand)
- a hammer (with 2 straight left over sewing pins)
I laid out the strips (right sides facing each other) and pinned the top edge together. Then gathered up the upper layer of fabric and put in small folds for “pockets” that my clothes pins to attach. (Remember to make the fold opening for the clothes pin “upside down” since the back of the fabric is facing you.) Sew around, leaving bottom open. Turn inside out. Pull seams out and pin (so you can cheat and not iron). Top sew around (as in image below with “mini pocket” sign), being sure to tuck in the bottom opening and sew it shut. Now your organizer is ready to hang. Use sewing pins to hang on the wall (easy to put up and easier to deal with than a big nail or hanger). Enjoy!

Now I must confess 1 organizer was not enough. I needed 3 (2 long and 1 short) to deal with the papers I wanted to keep on my wall. (I did purge – really!)
I’m not done with this wall yet. But made big strides today. Must contemplate how to deal with the rest of it.

I never thought of that, great idea! At work I took clipboards and put some nails in the wall to hang them on and that works great to although it isn’t as visually appealing. I guess you could paint the clipboards of cover them with fabric and make them look nicer too.
Very handy! Thank you for sharing this!
Love! Paper is my biggest problem, so I’m always looking for ways to manage and minimize it. Thanks so much for sharing!
What a neat idea!
That is such a great idea!
What a nifty sewing project and creative idea.
